This lovely property in central Winchester was undergoing complete renovation including an impressive extension by AM Architect. The redesign of the garden was done in stages. We started with the rear garden where we created better proportioned steps with lush borders either side. The overgrown area under the silver birch was opened up and we created a lovely curving path under the trees with lots of spring and summer planting. This soon became the client’s hideaway during the build phase! A new rooftop seating area was built above the newly dug garage with wonderful views over Winchester. We used powder coated raised planters with a long Millboard built-in seat and multi-stem osmanthus trees to soften and screen neighbouring houses. During the last stage we tackled the entrance and side of the house. We used Baksteen clay pavers to create an elegant but more formal entry and replanted an existing seating area under the large yew using a mix of shade loving plants.
